For the simple reason that it is MUCH harder to design a super wide
angle lens with minimal abberations, and MUCH harder yet to design and
manufacture one at a reasonable price, than to design a nice 90-100 mm
macro.
The 90/2 has it's own issues, being less sharp at 1:2 than at 1:10 or
1:40. Odd behavior for a true macro lens. At first, I though I was doing
something wrong, or had a bad sample. A careful reading of the archives
and at least one off list response to a post on the subject led me to
believe that this is typical. It's not BAD, it's just not outstanding
close-up, as I thought it should be. I sold mine and am quite happy with
my Kiron 105/2.8/1:1 and Tamron 90/2.5 macros and the Zuiko 50/3.5 for
copy work.

A little awkward at times, but the meaning is clear. Don't worry.
