There's something weird about those auctions, though -- that one's a

which is a bit misleading -- I suppose it _could_ be 120/8 -> 600/5.6,
but I don't think so. Still, I'll bet it's a better lens than the
600-1200 cannons that crop up.
And check out 7554026142 (Tamron SP 500/8 mirror + 2x converter) -- I
have one of those lenses and it's a perfectly fine mirror lens, sure. I
would be amazed if the samples on that page were taken with that lens,
or even any lens remotely close to it, because the bokeh is definitely
not mirror-lens-ish..
