I don't think I'd have called this "image processing" in the
conventional sense. All they're doing is trying to collect the noise
charge in one bucket and the actual photon charge in another so the two
values can be differentiated and only the pixel charge taken out.
That's a much different thing than trying to tweak the curves or remove
the noise after the image is already read out and stored.
