I'm brand spanking new to this list, so I'm probably breaking all sorts of
protocol; so please feel free to correct or otherwise yell at me.
So far, I've confined my 2 or 3 posts to pitiful "wanted to buy" supplications
for some obscure glass called Zuikos, which I later found out were old Olympus
lenses. I'm from the Fred Miranda list, which deals mostly with Canon stuff,
and worse yet, I've only owned a camera for the past 5 months or thereabouts,
so I don't need yelling at; I need an education, is what it is.
However, through the kindness of one of this list's members, I am soon to be
the proud owner of a 21/3.5, but I don't think he had a hood for it... not
sure. Problem is this: trying to locate a hood has proved to be a bit of a
challenge. Are they that scarce? And, if they are, has anyone considered
commisioning a limited run of them from a machinst?
I have a toolroom grade lathe, and if there's enough interest, I think I can
put together a small run... I'd just need measurements or a sample. It needn't
be the original size or shape, if more recent designs are better.... the only
thing is, I've never seen one, so don't know how they attach. Screw on? or
clip on/set screw? Bayonet mount? If I do this, they will be cut from billet
aluminum, not pressed sheet. Lots of waste, but I'm not dealing with enough
quantity to warrant making dies and pressing them out.
I don't know how this forum works; do you guys yell at me via email or just
have it out on the list in the open?
aloha,
walt
