I casually announced my new purchase to Susan just after noon today, choosing a
time when she was a little distracted playing some game on her three-year-old
Dell computer. The conversation went like this:
Me: "Oh, almost forgot. I bought some new camera gear."
Her: "Like you don't have enough! What's this one?"
Me: "It's an Olympus E-1 digital."
Her: "How much did it cost?"
Me: "A lot."
Her: "Well, it's your money. And, speaking of spending money, I want a new
computer and printer, and since I haven't spent any of my bonus from last year
... "
Me: (Interrupting) "Sounds good. I'll help you hook it all up."
At this juncture, I wandered off toward the kitchen, declaring that it must be
beer-thirty, smoothly changing the subject and closing the discussion by
starting a conversation with Bailey, one of the cats. Am I slick, or what? ;-]
Walt, who's learned a thing or two from years watching folks get in trouble by
saying more than they had to.
