Every year alewives (fish, not beer-toting women) make a run upstream at
nearby Damariscotta Mills. They're headed from the ocean to Damariscotta
Lake to spawn. Lots of people wander down to the Mills to see them do their
thing. Usually, however, the alewives attract more seagulls than people. The
seagulls like it when the alewives go upstream to spawn. For a shot of a
