Of course there is noise reduction. CMOS is basically noisier than CCD.
The advantage of CMOS, as I understand it, is that allows noise
reduction at the sensor level. That seems to allow better control of
noise with reduced side effects. I think Canon opts for a bit more of
it for their trademark silky images. Both Kodak and Nikon have drawn
the noise reduction line a bit differently in their CMOS cameras.
Basically, though, any CMOS chip is going to have some basic noise
reduction to equal or better the intrinsic noise level of a CCD.
