But if the office is 15 mi round trip from home and you separate commuting
from recreation ... Actually I didn't get my car repaired for a couple
years, so for awhile I was commuting more than 3000 a year (love silicon
valley weather). The issue is time. In traffic 15 mph is pretty fast avg.
which takes 200 hours or the equivalent of 5 weeks of a 40 hour job. There
was a guy commuting daily from S.F. down to San Jose, about 60 miles each
way, on a track bike. I couldn't keep up with him very long.
