Oh, right, of course, that makes sense now. If you're metering a
distant mountain, with incident metering you have to find a nearby place
that's lit the same way, whereas with spot metering you have to work out
how far from 18% grey the distant thing is, and the former seems like
it'd be much easier. Thanks for explaining that -- incident meters seem
a lot more useful now!
