Interesting question -- so I tried it, and it seems to be fixed as of
the i series, yup. It actually doesn't seem to matter if I tell it to
use greyscale or not, printing plain black text with the default
high-colour photo settings still didn't have any problems.
As for photo-i, his review of the i950 (previous year's model to mine)
says "Had I not printed the test prints myself, I would have doubted
they were produced on an inkjet printer, let alone one that costs less
than £300. ", which was basically my opinion.
I'm sure that as far as archival prints go there's better ones out
there, or if you want wide carriage, but honestly, I can't think of any
way that image quality could get better that I'd care about. It's the
scanner/digital camera image quality that's holding me back right now..
