I'm not sure why so many people foster such negative feelings about the
Evolt. Personally, I like the Evolt concept more than the E-1. It's a
clever design that's more compact for one thing. The other is that the
obvious Pen comparison makes me think of the 4/3 sensor as a half-frame
sensor and in that context it makes a certain sense to me. Thinking of
the Evolt as a half-frame digital makes it a nice counterpart to the
full-frame models by K*dak and Can*n. Build quality seemed fine to me
in the limited time I spent with one last week and the viewfinder
seemed fine, as well. Of course, I'm used to dealing with Super-8 and
16mm viewfinders, so a viewfinder that bright and large is luxurious to
me.
