Hi all
Gary Edwards' note and image about flying with the Zuiko 16mm f/3.5
fisheye prompts me to contribute a note about the fisheye that has just
come into my possession.
This Sigma 16mm f/2.8 XQ looks for all the world like the Zuiko 24mm f/3.5
shift lens, but the front lens element bulges even more, if that is possible.
The dimensions are somewhat comparable.

Pity the image is not rectilinear!
Given the curvature applied to straight lines by the 16mm, it is amazing that
the Samyang 18-28 lens I have manages to deliver straight lines at 18mm.
The protruding front element, unblemished at present, seems to attract
objects to it if it is used as a walk-around lens. I have to find a way to
ensure
the lens-cap is firmly fastened. It has the Sigma "Perfect" lens-hood; i.e. a
tulip-style hood, permanently fixed.
It will focus down to 25mm (1 inch) from the front lens element.
There's no doubt that these lenses start the owner on seeing the world
another way. They really are a kind of reverse telephoto. I found that if I put
it
very close to a large-leaved shrub we have, the view was for all the world as
if
I were standing 2 - 3 feet off with a 50mm lens looking at the same large
leaf..
I may post a picture or two some time. The auction page did not emphasis
its size and dimensions.
