No . . . there is a difference in era in which they were made . . . plus
their longevity seems to be affected by how they're stored as well. The
covering isn't real leather, it's a vinyl of some type, and I believe
that's what changed at some point. Some vinyls are less problematic than
others with age, and more forgiving with storage. All vinyls outgas and
chemically change over time . . . even in dark storage . . . but most more
so when exposed to sunlight (hence the gummy fog that accumulates on the
inside of an auto windshield; it's mostly from the vinyl head-impact dash
board). Typically "gumminess" occurs when a vinyl is stored in a fairly
tightly enclosed and relatively small space that keeps the outgassed gasses
around the object instead of dissipating them.
The older, real leather camera cases for the "single digit" bodies hold up
extremely well. OTOH, the OM-10, OM-PC and the leatherette cases made for
the single-digit bodies seem to have the same problem as the lens cases you
cite.
There are two versions of the dark brown cases for the OM-2S and newer
"single digit" bodies (with built-in hot shoes) . . . real leather and
leatherette . . . and in finding the never-ready cases for mine I inspected
them carefully to determine which type I was looking at . . . it's not
always easy to tell them apart.
