[OM] OM lens cases cracking and shedding leather

I have tried to obtain orginal OM lens cases for all my lenses and have
noticed that **all** the cases that simply say Xmm with no speed rating
very quickly start to crack and the leather peel and drop off. This has
hapened to three cases now within a single holiday (hot and sticky) in
China. All the cases that say Xmm FX.X are fine! Have I been
lucky/unlucky? or is there some fundemental differences between the
leather of the specific cases such as the 28mm F2.8 and the larger
gerneric 28mm????
