I was so taken with the saw marks on the lens elements in the cut away
picture I forgot to read the review. I just liked the photo. So unusual
these days of photoshopped smoothness.
Looking at the review now and having looked at other reviews and a lot
of pictures posted by people over a period of weeks because I was
serious about getting it I would say that it is an unfairly negative
review too. There is no question that the C-8080 gives super images as
long as you stay on top of its tendency to overexpose on automatic.
Certainly the lack of purple fringing in the images is not a minor
advantage over the Sony as the review seems to indicate. As for
controls that are a little different being a criticism of the review,
that reminds me of the rather stupid Consumer Reports practice of
downgrading any variation from the norm as a defect which led to their
recommendation of a four door Chevrolet stripper sedan as the ideal car
for decades, my idea of automotive hell. They were not crazy about the
OM4T either for the same reason.
