I've got the older multi-pro (4800 dpi). The 5400 incorporated a copy of a
diffuser that a couple multipro users developed (scanhancer). The multipro
works fine with Kodachrome. I've heard the Minolta software doesn't work
that well with negative film. I only use slides.
The minolta software isn't a perfect match for windows XP. It works fine but
doesn't always recognize the scanner on power up. It's not much of a problem
but can give you a heart attack the first few times. (I've found not having
the film tray inserted helps)
