thanks for the welcome, and yes I did read about the tripod technique,
unfortunately the tripod I bought years ago (penny wise pound foolish)
looked quite good, but it is just not solid enough to hold the camera to
be able to press with the finger. I used to shoot rifles a lot but find
that the tripod doesn't allow me to hold the camera steady enough - well
actually it is the 3 way head which doesn't lock tight enough. The
tripod could also be a bit firmer though.
Thanks for the advice though. Maybe I should try with a beanbag on
something solid and experimenting with technique before investing in a
new tripod and head.
I think a 4 is probably a good bet but there is a slight difference with
the way it works with the f280, I believe it doesn't sync at all manual
speeds (i.e just up to 60) which doesn't allow quite the same control,
not that I have played with that feature much and of course I stand to
be corrected. Saying that it doesn't really matter because I will still
have the 3
