The only reason to use a ball head on a monopod that I can imagine is
to flip over for portraits and the only reason I use the nice old Slik
one I have is that it was seriously cheap. You might be better off with
the 90deg. flip-over that manfrotto/bogen make and there is a cheap
Chinese knock-off of same - cheaper, quicker and neater than a ballhead
and prolly more stable too.
