The one I bought the other day is green. It has a dent in the front threaded
filter/cap ring. Did they come with that feature or was that a custom

That was me. The three models represent successive developments of what
looks like the same lens. Except that the first was white, the second black
(?) and the third, green. So in addition to any views you might have
(absent any hard data) about the likely improvement in optical performance
over time, you have the question of whether it will match the red
rattlesnake skin covering on your OM-88!
And you also have the issue of what is available. Sometimes it's nice not
to have to choose. I would likely as not be equally happy with any of them
- but happier still with the one that was 50% of the price of the others!

OK, now that I've been set straight about the 35~80 (thanks!) anyone care to
enlighten me about the different models of the 300/2.8? Didn't someone in
this thread mention 3 models? Is one more desirable than the others?
