No, I didn't have eye control enabled.
Yes, this was in low light. Horrible low light where I was guess
focusing my OM. In this situation, the D100 with it's single white light
thingy seemed to be faster (and far less irritating) than the EOS30 with
it's strobe autofocus assist. Perhaps it's just me.

May be you have enabled the Eye focusing in EOS30, I have a EOS33 and it
focus very fast and accurate, didn't found it hunting except at very low
light. C*anon is famous of its fast focusing, it is the first time I
heard
it is poorer than N*kon.
