Well now, isn't that precisely what Olympus did when introducing the OM
bayonet? A completely new mount, incompatible with any previous Olympus SLR,
as with any other manufacturer's mount at the time. Cutting out
compatibility with Pentax screw, Canon FD, Minolta and Nikon bayonet,
Exakta/Topcon, Rollei, Leica, Contax ... need I go on (I am having
difficulty remembering them all)?
