Thanks Moose,

That's what I'm starting to think. Playing around with it (trying to get the
focusing screen to sit either further in or out) does make a bit of a
difference but it is still a fair bit off at the best.

I bought it as a cheap "don't care" body so I could leave my OM-4Ti at home (my
"I really care" body) so I don't really want to spend any money on repairs.

I'll experiment with the mirror though to see if that helps.

Can anybody (Clint / John) provide info regarding which way minute movement
effects the focusing? i.e. if the mirror was moved closer to vertical would
this make the focus distance marks on the lens closer or further away (if
subject was 10m away would focus need to be set a 5m or infinity).

Thanks again,
-j

Most likely the mirror adjustment is off. There is a little metal peg
sticking out from the side of the mirror box that holds it at the right
angle in the down position. If it gets bent, the focus in the viewfinder
is off. My experience with that problem was that the problem was worse
with wide angle than tele lenses. Bending the tab is easy, getting it in
the right place isn't. Pretty easy for a repair shop with the rignt
equipment.

Changing screens in double digit bodies is pretty straightforward and it
sounds like you have it right in the position that is 'less worse'.
