That's more clear, Jim.

I use single frame advance more than sequence (when I have the MD on at 
all) and for what you describe that sounds like the best method. Another 
solution in that situation would be to either use a shorter lens (250mm, 
say) or position yourself farther from the action with that 300mm so as to 
increase your frame width relative to the subject's forward motion, giving 
you more leeway with re to anticipating the action and shutter lag.

As for MD performance: Olympus specs read that the maximum advance rate on 
the MD2 is 5fps @ 1/500, and I've interpreted that to mean that the advance 
rate will be less (how much less I don't know) at a slower shutter speed 
(how much slower I don't know).

Where have you read the 1/125 suggestion re fps?
