Hi George:

I just received a good as new 16mm Zuiko Fisheye that I bought on eb*y for
$550. and that is a bargain. There were three main reasons that affected the
price.
a) There were 2 listed at the same time, ending within 2 hours of each
other, and there was a higher minimum bid on it.
b) The listing photos were very good (item 2989444115) but the strong
lighting made it look like there were flaws in the black surround under the
front element, in reality there is no issue.
c) There seems a general decline in prices, not just due to digital, there
are economic factors, and user factors, the pipeline for the 'rarer' lenses
does fill up or slow down, especially in an endeavour that is less
widespread than in past history. The technology shift comes in waves,
eroding the general base and that denigrates the marginal quality items and
also the most mass produced items. I could go on, but I think it sufficient
to say that the worth of the lens is in the shot, if (for now) the world
wants me to pay less then I'm for it. BUT what happens when they deplete the
pixel mines, and Kodak and Fuji run low on digits- ha, ha! then they won't
feel so smug.

Gord
