Thanks for the link. I do indeed have a Netgear wireless router that is
on their list. However, I doubt that is the cause of this specific
problem, as I am not trying to get to U of Wisc. and another app finds
the server with no difficulty. It looks to me like the UWi problem stems
from the router accessing it for its own internal logging purposes, and
doing it sloppily. I'm from the 'don't fix it if it ain't broke' school
and have never had any problem with the router, so I'll consider
updating the firmware with care.
I'm really not looking for a fix, as I'm quite happy as things are.
