That would mean I'd have filters in five different sizes, instead
of just four: 49, 55, 72 and 82mm. Besides, the 17/3.5 Tamron and
the 28-105/2.8 Tamron both take 82mm filters, so it's a lot more
economical this way. Also, using one of those collapsable,
adjustable, three-position Hoya lens hoods works with both the big
80-200/2.8 Tamron and the 19-35/3.5~4.5 Phoenix when using a
filter, since the regular hoods won't fit then (though with the
Phoenix, there's not much point).
