Indeed Winsor, the viewfinder seems to be the least well designed part
at the moment. That apart, and notwithstanding my polemic about DSLRs
(about which I now admit I do not know enough to complain ;-)), I am
pleased with my ability to use my G5 in various modes. The complexity
comes in having to remember which custom features are available in
which mode. I should imagine the Canon 300D is similar.
