I had the 55/1.2, and was very pleased with its performance at f2.8, too.
However, I didn't like its 'flavour' at f1.2 (my main onterest for this
lens) so I sold it.

Of course, this is the typical example of vignetting on fast standard
lenses wide-open.

Me too! However, the Zuiko 40/2 may give pleasing results, especially with
the digital body (EOS-300D):
