Not completely so. Nikon has been designing and issuing some lenses for
digital wide angle. There is a 12-24 WA zoom that sees the equivalent
of 18 to 36mm on a 35mm camera. There is also a 10.5mm full frame
fisheye that would be equivalent to 16mm on a 35. In addition the Nikon
Capture software does a decent job of straightening up the fisheye
curves giving a nice rectilinear ultra-wide angle image.
