Thanks, Jeff. It was the information I was looking for. I suppose that
a diffraction grating is capable of bending light more than refraction
in any glass or fluorite formulation which would explain Canon's
ability to make a lens much smaller than a conventional one. Amazing
that one could design and build one so fine that is not disturbed.
