That part seemed a little strange to me too. I have read that the cc
companies would rather write of debts of less than $50,000 than have the
publicity. I think they also do their own investigations sometimes.
I did have an unusual experience once with theft. I left a cc at a gas
station in Georgia and did not discover it until I got home in E.
Tennessee. I immediately called and they put it in their safe. When I
returned for it the next Monday, an employee had taken it. The cc company
traced it to the guy and what he had done with it. He was arrested.
