When I discovered about this Mailing List I think there were about
170 people on the List. I remember very well that the List host
(was it you, Shawn?) decided to add [OM] header to the Subject
line since this List was meant for the Olympus OM content.
I also remember participating in the accuracy testing of the spot
versus average metering schemes using the OM-4 and -4Ti. I think
the conclusions at that time was that the spot metering calculates
the EV slightly lower than that of the average metering - some
thing like -0.5 to -0.8 (THESE ARE GUESS NUMBERS - NOT THE FACTS).
I think this exercise was conducted since one of the list members
found inconsistency in the exposure accuracy using his OM-4 and
was trying to persuade Olympus Germany to fix his OM. Does anyone
remember the conclusion ?
Some of the names I remember from those days were John Prosper,
Denton Taylor, Warren Kato, Tomoko Yamamoto. I think Doris Fang
came along later. I also remember that there was a lucky lady
who was able to acquire a Zuiko 24mm shift lens at very appealing
price. And there was some discussions on the meaning of Zuiko,
its origin, and bokeh.
