I've had modest success with a home-made rig I found instructions for in a
book. I cut varying radius semicircle cuts in the edge of a 2x8 board I had
lying around using a coping saw. Then I bought some short 3/4" oak dowel
segments at Home Depot, and cut them at one end to a bevel and curve that
would fit best to the inner curve of a filter ring. With my third hand I
hold the lens in a curve closely matching the radius of the filter ring, and
then use the dowel and light (light!) taps of a hammer on then end of the
dowel to reshape the filter ring from the inside... its amazing how little
force is needed to rebend the ring out into a good curve again.
I've reshaped a few lenses (no Zuikos, thank goodness, have needed it) which
will then take filters again. I believe you can buy a commercial version of
this from MicroTools, but making it was easy and much cheaper.
