Yes, he used 250 exp backs and two assistants. The cameras were
highly modified C*non F1 bodies that could do 10+ fps. Legend
has it that one of the bodies could do almost 20.

The life of a professional. Tools are meant to be used. If
that means that you have a fleet of cameras and a full-time
camera repairman, then so be it. And these kinds of
professionals almost never edit their own work.

There have been a few occasions where I pumped 500-1000 frames
through my cameras in a day. They don't happen very often
though. My OM-2S (yes, the famed weakling of the bunch) has
never missed a beat during those days. Age and use are starting
to catch up to it now, but it's been as reliable and solid as I
could ever have hoped for in a professional camera.

Hmm, to go full circle here...

How many pictures can we get out of a set of button cells in an
OM-x during one of these major shoots? I can roast a set or two
during one of those megadays. So, what's the difference?
Either AAs or battery packs can be recharged, 357s can't.

To expand this out, let's say you go backpacking on Isle Royale
for five days. You can expect to shoot up to 1000 pictures
during that time--if photography is the major purpose of your
journey. I'd be happy toting a couple spare, fully charged,
battery packs (or a bunch of AA rechargables) in-lew of 40 rolls
of film. That's ONLY eight rolls per day. I almost always plan
on eight rolls per day, although, I'll shoot about five if I'm
being a tightwad or the weather isn't cooporating.

Are AA rechargables better than dedicated battery packs? Well,
to each his/her own, but AAs do have the advantage of being used
in most flash units and other electronic gizmos too. Having a
standardized battery format is nice. I also have a solar
battery charger that can recharge four AAs at a time. Great for
back-country use. Cost me $20 at a truck stop in Colorado. But
high-capacity AA rechargables are expensive and can be ruined by
poor-quality chargers.

The best part of using AA rechargables is that you can use them
in so many things that it's easy to keep them fresh. (use em or
lose em). With dedicated battery packs, they can be ruined by
inconsistant use. The pros that use them for 500-1000 per day,
at least once per week can get much more mileage out of a
dedicated pack than the average user. But, somedays, you get
the feeling that dedicated battery packs are kinda like
ink-cartridges. They get you on the consumables.

You think we have problems, try getting replacement batteries
for your iPOD.

Welcome to the new guys! Join the fray and enjoy your cameras
and lenses. The OM system is such a fantastic system right now
because you get such high quality stuff for such reasonable
cost.

Notice I did get an OM content in there, twice?
