My copy of this book (got it off yaBe) just arrived today. I remember
that in the discussion there was some confusion regarding the publisher
(Ilford or Focal Press). My edition is by Focal Press so at first I
thought there might be 2 different books with similar titles.
However, I checked in the dust cover and it notes that it was
originally The Ilford Manual of Photography, first published in 1890.
My edition is the 7th, first published in 1978. It looks like the
change in title took place with the 6th edition, first published in
1971.
Incidentally, the 7th edition was the latest edition I was able to find
on yaBe, not sure if there is a more recent one or not.
