Well, the primary problem that I see is that the we are forced
to accept consumer-grade camera bodies to get the imaging we
want. Maybe it's a non-issue to get a body capable of lasting
for many years when it becomes obsolete before it becomes worn
out.

Like I said at the end of my post: The search goes on. If I
were to decide right this minute, I'd buy the S2. But, am I
truely happy with it? I've always been very happy with the
ergonomics of the OM system and the E1, from what I've been
reading, has it in spades. I'm a bonus check away from buying
anything, so who knows what will transpire in the next 60 days.

IF, and it's a big "IF", Olympus was to get their collective
heads out of their rear-ends, and release the adaptor, I'd give
the new system consideration. After all, I'll be keeping some
of my OM kit till I hit my expiration date. Well, maybe I'd
part with the 100/2.8 for a thousand bucks or so.

Does the 10D grip also give you problems?

Yup. The grip shape does not let me curl my fingers as far
around as with the Nikon bodies. My grasp is spread out too
much. In all fairness, though, the Nikon D1x and F5 bodies
trigger the same problem with the vertical grip. Canon grips
require me to "squeeze" the grip rather than just hold onto the
grip. The OM with winder or motor drive is probably the most
comfortable of any camera--ever.

So is this OT? Maybe a little bit, but I am indicating an
openness to the E-1 if they can be true to their claim of
creating an "open standard". I have a hard time believing that
they are serious about that if they won't even open up the "open
standard" to their own legacy line of professional equipment.
