I don't mind the dialog on digital camera comparisons as long as people
don't get into stupid arguments about it. I've used digital for a long time
for some limited applications and really want to be able to use some of my
Zuikos on a digital SLR. I have a great set of macro and long telephoto
lenses and it may be some time before that range is duplicated in a full
digital system. For the macro gear, stop down metering would not be a major
problem. A completely new digital macro system would also be a lot of money
for a 64 year old person to spend, especially if it isn't making me much
money.

That will be a comment on the sudden surge to digital Donald - or a
meringue?
I sympathise with you, it's as if there is just an echo in a dimly lit room,
where once there was a lively on-going talk-in.
On the bright side, I have picked up a few long-sought pieces from fellow
listees liquidating to fund their move away from film.
Also on the bright side, my feeling is that Olympus have perhaps managed
something similar to what they did with the OM-1, in producing something
which doesn't just follow the pack, and follow what they themselves had done
before, but starts afresh. As I said myself in the last couple of weeks, I
was given cause to "nearly falter", and perhaps many others are sitting
back, slightly stunned, and thinking hard. Thinking "How much could I sell
all this stuff for to help pay for the E-1".
Film will remain viable for a while yet, and if your Oms are like mine, they
will remain usable too. While I can still focus manually, there ain't no
need to change.
Hang in there Donald, the others have only popped out for a minute or two.
