My doctor (bless him) has told me that one of the cholesterols that is
too low can be sorted by exercise and/or moderate alcohol intake. I
can't remember which one, but that's good enough for me.

UK "accepted wisdom" (peddled slightly by doctors)is that a little
alcohol
of any type is beneficial simply for the relaxation factor, no
mysterious
chemical wonders.
