We don't believe in letting the pharmaceutical companies walk all over us.
They deserve a good rate of return, but not extortionate. So we have the
generic manufacturers, and adjust the length of patent protection to the
companies' behaviour. It doesn't work perfectly, but it helps a lot.
We're actually not all that keen on having our prices pushed up by extra
demand from down south. If they're getting exported up here, then back down
there, we'd get almost nothing out of it except truck fumes. I hope this is
just some arm-twisting to get them to behave in the US as well. Let your
government know what you want.
