I haven't done this. I've read a dissaembly trick for 35mm rangefinders is to
press a rubber stopper onto rewind knobs (of
rangenfinders), then turn.
If you already have a replacement and are willing to destroy the present
battery cover, you could also drill two very small holes in
it. Then insert a pair of pliers with small pins on the business end and turn.
These plieers arecalled snap-ring pliers in the
USA, and I belive are called a "pin spanner" in the UK.
