Hi Folks
When you are reading my contributions and you see a (:-) or a
=|;-)> somewhere in the letter the chances are that I am joking at least in
part.
And so it is with the little Stylus Epic. I think I have bought it with my
eyes
open. If it works, it will be a great bargain. If it doesn't, I haven't lost
much.
So far all functions seem to work, except I don't know if the autofocus is
totally OK and won't know until I get the first film developed.
Also, and this is one of many times I have done this, I persuaded the seller
to ship to NZ even though they labelled the auction as "Ship to USA only".
In recent months I have had only one refusal, and many acceptances from
both USA and UK.
The most recent is an 8MB memory chip for an HP LaserJet 5L printer, from
California, and I had noticed they aren't making many sales. Their auction
page is full of notices saving they won't ship outside USA. Usually I am very
polite when I ask, but this time I was quite blunt. Here's the letter

> I'm in the market for 8MB HP LaserJet 5L memory, but you have to be
prepared to airmail to New Zealand, and accept either my PayPal; payment,
or my Mastercard payment.
I invite you to look at my eBay feedback.

(H P don't make the 8MB chips, and were absolutely hopeless at replying to
my queries. Their technical support if I make a local call is re-routed to
India;
I had a very nice conversation with a lady there in the middle of her night,
for
data. NZ technical support in India !!)
Well, without further argument they agreed, and I bid. The chip is in the air
to me now. It is made by Mitsubishi. I hope it works !!
Cheers, Brian
