The flash does freeze the image, but...
With fairly high ambient light and moving objects, you can get ghost
images of objects that would normally be blurry at 1/60th of a second.
You would see this effect more with a telephoto lens, where the shake
is not the subject, but the whole camera.
Plus, with a faster sync speed, you can use a flash with more ambient
light. With the T series flashes in Off the Film plane mode and the
camera in automatic, if the shutter speed should be faster than 60th of
a second, the flash never fires. If you are trying to do a fill flash
outdoors, 1/60 can be quite limiting.
At least, that's what I remember from reading posts on this list for years.

1/125th is much better than 1/60th sync speed because??? I thought when
it came to flashes, it was all about the apeture?? Yes?
