Duh! Aperture grill, not shadow mask, as Daniel Tan correctly pointed out. I

It's normal. They are the shadow of the tension wires for the shadow mask. It's 
a characteristic of Trinitron tubes, especially. Mitsubishi has been using 
trinitron-type picture tubes for a long while in their products (although I 
don't know if they're true Trinitron tubes, which are Sony's patent).
