Ffordes have some Tamrons and Tokinas, among which are lenses mentioned in

They are indeed nice, better apparent build quality and much nicer
finish than the Tamrons. Lee Hawkins gathered together Modern
Photography tests of many mirror lenses here
<http://brashear.phys.appstate.edu/lhawkins/photo/mp-cat-tests.txt>. Of
course, shooting the same subject from a given spot, the 600mm lenses
will resolve more detail than the 500mms with the same measured
resolution because of the greater magnification. Notice esp. the
comparison to the Vivitar 'Solid Cat', no payoff for the extra weight.

And it was my birthday today, so I'm off to practice with my new graphics
