The only thing I could find was a memory dump from a working smartmedia
card that you use WinHEX to dump to the card. I tried it and on the
computer it looks fine. It has the proper directories (including
Olymp100), but the camera turns up its nose. BTW, I also read somewhere
that these problems that plagued Olympus with the SM cards is one reason
why they added the CF slot in the E-10 and E-20.

A SM once formated in PC will not be able to format by camera anymore. I
heard there is special program run at PC that can save the card but
