Successfully rewinding the film in the wrong direction (without the rewind
knob unscrewing) often causes alternating light and dark "bars" of exposure
or out of focus fogging which run in line with the sprocket holes. We saw
this a lot with OM-10 users as the OM-10 knob is notched to the rewind shaft
and can't unscrew.
As proof to people at the customer service counter, we wound a roll of B&W
film through a 10 with the body cap on, then rewound it in the wrong
direction. Then we processed it and found the fogged lines.
As the film passes through the light trap and bends at a 90 degree angle,
enough heat may be generated to cause the fogging.

Subject: Re: [OM] One of those stupid mistakes....
I have never caused myself this problem, yet..., but
my take would be that maybe it would have been
preferrable if you continued rewinding the entire film
in the wrong direction. As you did it now, there would
be my fear that the film got heavily bent in the one
place when you changed direction. If you just
continued the wrong way, you would have spared the
film this particular stress, so I would think...
I'd be interested in knowing how your negatives come
out. I sincerely hope there will not be a problem.
Kind greetings,
Thomas
