Sorry Gary, but that is complete rubbish. Not only is the power
adjustable on all modern X-ray machines but they will rescan at
increasing power levels until they do see something that might be
deliberately obscured. Watch next time you go through to see how many
items are rescanned - each time with increased power. Your film gets
the accumulated dose!
I brought some lead crystal back from Holland to UK - four separate
passes followed by a manual inspection!
The units used for checked baggage
WILL automatically increase power until they detect an acceptable image.
That *is* true - and the intial power level *will* damage even 50ASA
film!
