As I no longer own a 50mm f3.5, I cannot speak directly to that issue,
however I'll tell you about the 50mm and 90mm f2s. Both of mine are marked in
feet
and the other scale is for "Reproduction Ratios". In the Sales Information
Files used by dealers these lenses, as well as, the 50mm f3.5 are shown with
distance marked in meters rather than feet. I think that gives a rather
definitive answer. Some are marked in meters, others in feet and both have a
Reproduction Ratio scale adjacent to the distance scale. Bill Barber
