I THINK - I'm not sure as I don't own one - with the
Macro, the upper scale is for the magnification factor
(at least at close range) and the lower scale is the
distance film to subject.
I admit could be wrong of course. :-)

You are right of course... didn't look closely! The (yellow) upper
scale shows the magnification factor (1:x), the (white) lower one (in
meters, in my case - I bought the lens in France) is for the distance.
