Nope, just the state. We don't like to give it our money, they'll just waste
it. Case in point:
Last summer, the county neatly repaved our street. A month later, they came
along and carefully striped it with nifty reflective paint. Two weeks ago, a
county employee came buy and carefully marked (with one of those
fluorescent-colored spray-paint markers) the location of all the sewer
lines--apparently in anticipation of some sewer work being done.
So...
Two days ago a large county crew came noisily along, sprayed about a half-inch
of liquid asphalt over the entire thing and covered the lot in an inch of
gravel. It is now a uniform, pale gray, crunchy mass. (Knowing the county, it's
likely limestone gravel, which will promptly begin disintegrating this winter,
in the wet and snow)
Any day now I expect the sewer guys to return and dig it all up.

Oh, I am sure we are grateful Scott ;-). And are all those
Californians broke? - reference to the impending bankruptcy of the
state ;-)
